Meet John L. Solomon
A Life Shaped by Faith,
Learning and Purpose
John L. Solomon is an author, educator, speaker, and former minister whose work is deeply connected to his interest in human development, behavior, spirituality, and personal growth.
Based in Macon, Georgia, John brings together knowledge from psychology, special education, religious studies, education, and years of lived experience. His professional background has given him an opportunity to observe how people think, learn, respond to challenges, and develop throughout different stages of life.
His writing draws from those observations, blending practical life lessons with spiritual insight and personal reflection.
Where His Professional
Experience Meets His Writing
John’s academic and professional journey has crossed several disciplines.
He holds degrees in psychology and special education and has worked as an educator. His experience includes working with students facing behavioral and special educational challenges, giving him firsthand exposure to the ways people respond to different environments, circumstances, and developmental needs.
His background as a former minister also shaped his understanding of spirituality and faith.
These areas naturally find their way into his writing. John explores the relationship between the mind, beliefs, behavior, purpose, and personal transformation, using ideas that readers can connect to everyday experiences.
His work is grounded in a belief that understanding ourselves can help us make wiser choices about the lives we build.
The Story Behind the Author
An Eagle, a Story, and the Beginning of a Writing Journey
John’s journey as a writer began in 1999 with a story about an eagle.
After hearing a church sermon centered on the idea that an eagle has no business behaving like a chicken, John began developing the concept into a story. Drawing inspiration from the storytelling tradition of African griots, he created and delivered the narrative spontaneously at a summer camp.
The idea stayed with him.
John eventually recorded the story and transformed it into a book. For years, publishing remained a dream. From 1999 until 2013, he imagined seeing the book in print and continued working toward that goal.
His determination even led him to create his own bound copies at OfficeMax when professional publishing still seemed out of reach.
Then, in 2013, the opportunity finally arrived.
His book was published, marking a significant turning point in his life as a writer. The experience encouraged him to continue developing his ideas and sharing them with readers.
For John, that first publishing experience proved something important:
A dream can remain alive for years and still find its moment.
A Writer Who Builds From Ideas
John has a distinctive approach to writing.
When a book title or concept comes to him, he begins by mapping out the sections or chapters. The table of contents becomes his blueprint, giving the idea a structure that he can develop into a complete manuscript.
This framework-oriented approach reflects another part of John’s personality: he enjoys building frameworks and finding ways to organize ideas into practical concepts.
His writing process begins with the larger picture and then works toward the individual lessons that make the concept useful to readers.
His Influences
A Wide Range of Voices and Ideas
John draws inspiration from writers and thinkers across different fields and traditions.
His influences include:
Donald Goines
Max Lucado
C. S. Lewis
William Shakespeare
T. D. Jakes
King Solomon
These influences reflect John’s interest in storytelling, Christian thought, wisdom literature, human experience, and personal development.
Beyond Writing
John’s life outside his books is just as varied as his intellectual interests.
He enjoys driving, exercise, shopping, public speaking, and building frameworks. He also has a personal love for country music and horseback riding.
John describes himself as an African-American man with locs, a detail that offers another glimpse into the individual behind his professional work and writing.
These personal interests add texture to a life that continues to combine education, spirituality, creativity, communication, and curiosity.
Looking Ahead
John sees his writing journey expanding into speaking events, podcasts, panels, and other platforms where he can engage directly with people.
He is also developing a future book titled The Motivation Reformation: The Missing Link.
The project explores motivation as an ongoing process of development rather than a temporary emotional surge. John plans to examine ideas including alignment, self-command, desire, skill, effort, and personal renewal.
His goal is to explore what helps people sustain motivation and continue evolving after the initial excitement fades.
John encourages readers to recognize the value of their own contribution and to consider how their individual gifts can influence the people and communities around them.
